Bicalutamide belongs to a group of medicines called anti-androgens. The active ingredient blocks the unwanted effects of male hormones (androgens) in the body and in this way inhibits cell proliferation in the prostate.
Primarily Bicalutamide is used for adult men to treat prostate cancer when administered with drugs called LHRH analogs (luteinizing hormone-releasing-hormone), eg gonadorelin, or who have had or are about to undergo surgical castration.
Bicalutamide may also be approved to treat other diseases not mentioned here, ask your doctor, pharmacist or other health care professional if you have any further questions and always follow their instructions.
